these pictures were taken in kibagare a slum on the outskirts of nairobi, kenya.
the pictures were taken with self-made cardboard-pinhole cameras and converted cookie-boxes. you can see one of the cameras in the colour picture at the beginning of the slideshow. depending on the cloudiness the exposure-times were between 15 and 20 minutes. the persons depicted in some of these pictures had to try and not move during that time.
the buildings represent a cross section of what you will find along the slum's high street. amongst others a furniture factory, a kindergarten, a supermarket, a water outlet (!), a circumcision-clinic and again a little photo studio..
